Promoting civics education in America

Civics Education

A good, solid civics education is critically important to maintaining a free, democratic government. If people do not understand the importance of voting and elections and how they affect their lives, it can result in an ever growing, more powerful government that imposes its will upon the general public.

Many people fought hard against governments that ruled with absolute power to achieve the democratic government that we enjoy today. How could someone that does not understand the history of how democracy came to be truly appreciate the rights, responsibilities, and freedoms that come with it? More importantly, if they do not appreciate the freedoms that exist, they can be persuaded into believing that a more powerful government is a good thing. It happened in Germany and it could certainly happen again.

This is why it is critical to make sure that all citizens receive a good civics education.

About Us

A recent Pew Research Center study found that only one in three Americans can name one of three branches of government. This shows just how little emphasis is being placed on teaching American ideals and values in our schools. It's time to address the glaring lack of civics education in America.
